The Finca CAN CUCOUS is ca. 10 minutes east of San Antonio above the Cala Salada (2 km) on the western side of the island Ibiza. At an altitude of 152m (500 ft.) above sea level, the grounds afford a 360° panorama with a ca. 180° sea view to the west (and sunsets daily!). CAN CUCOUS occupies a mountain summit that is virtually a plateau. All buildings, enclosed areas (e.g. the picadero) and the paddock are situated on approximately the same level.
DESCRIPTION [exterior]
The enclosed surface area totals 1,200m? (12,900 sq. ft.) and the property covers over 42,000m? (10.4 acres), predominately of pine and juniper forest. Two fully automated entrance gates, one to the north and one to the south, can be reached via different access routes. The Finca and guesthouse are almost entirely surrounded by terraces and for the most part, under cover. All terraces overlook a smooth expanse of African cucuya grass. The lawns are surrounded by flower beds, Mediterranean bushes and a few trees. A fully automated garden irrigation system cares for the flower pots on the terraces. In the garden, indirect lighting nicely illuminates the old olive, loquat, pomegranate, orange and lemon trees. The in- and outdoor pools are linked by a sluice, have two separate filter systems and can be heated individually. CAN CUCOUS affords a magnificent view of the Iberian peninsula. Even with the breathtaking view of the sea and fantastic sunsets, the property is sheltered from the winds thanks to the wide, staggered terraces. DESCRIPTION [interior]
The Finca has a total 750m? (8073 sq. ft.) of living space, with the main house separated by a patio from the guesthouse (90m?, or 970 sq. ft.). The entrance hall and the two-car garage built into the main house are on the north side. All rooms in both residences have access to the terraces on the ground floor or to a roof terrace upstairs. The country kitchen is equipped with Gaggenau appliances of the highest quality. All bathrooms are individually designed and have first-class interiors. The light, airy wellness area consists of an indoor pool, wet and dry sauna, shower, rest areas and a fireplace. The underfloor heating in the main house and guesthouse is powered by a solar hot water system. The diesel generator and solar cells generate electricity to a 48V storage battery, convertible to 220V or 380V. The central vacuuming system can be used in all rooms in all buildings.
HISTORY
The Finca CAN CUCOUS, once owned by the Costa family of Ibiza, goes back to the year 1553. At that time, only four other extended families were settled on the island. In 1998 the main house was completely renovated in traditional Ibiza style. The last extensions to be built on the property were the stables and picadero. Today, CAN CUCOUS is one of Ibiza's most beautiful estates. |
